A MESSAGE FROM FR. TRUC

7th Sunday of Easter
May 16-22, 2010

Dear Parishioners and friends,

On this Ascension Sunday, Jesus completes the Cycle of Life and fulfills God’s plan of
salvation and redemption: Incarnation, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension.

On Christmas day, we celebrate the INCARNATION of Jesus where “the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us” (Jn 1:14).

On Good Friday, we celebrated Jesus’ DEATH on the cross as a sign of courage for us to
overcome our human suffering and tribulations.  During these 6 Sundays of Easter, we
celebrated Jesus’ RESURRECTION.  The risen Jesus restored the hope of the disciples from
their bewilderment and encouraged the Apostles to go out and proclaim the Good News:
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…”
(Mt. 28:18-20). By dying on the cross, Jesus redeems us; and by rising Jesus restores us to
newness of life. Therefore, every Sunday, we celebrate and sing “Christ is risen! Alleluia.”

On this ASCENSION Sunday, Jesus completes His CYCLE of life here on earth.  Jesus’
ascension is the exclamation point of God’s plan of salvation. Jesus fulfills His Mission. In joyful
hope, Jesus waits for God’s People here on earth in their free will to embrace Jesus’ New
Commandment of love: to love of God and to love one another.

Words of Gratitude:

Yesterday, our Cathedral Chapel School celebrated its 80th Anniversary. There was great
joy and excitement.  Many alumni of all ages, of different professional backgrounds and
nationality, and of different generations came and shared their stories and memories. Some
have travelled from out of state for this special reunion event.   I am grateful to all the
committee members, faculty and staff,  parents and students for the many months of planning
and preparation.  This celebration would not have been possible without their time and effort.
May God bless everyone for we believe in the richness tradition of our Catholic education.
