Dear Parishioners, Benefactors, and Friends of Cathedral Chapel Parish,
Christ is risen! Alleluia! Happy Easter to all! Last week, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has extended the closures of our churches and schools until May 15, 2020. This is in alignment with the “Safer at Home” order from the State of California and the City of Los Angeles.
Many of you are struggling both financially and emotionally as you try to cope during this global pandemic of COVID-19. During the last five weeks, our parish is going through the same ordeal. Our regular Sunday offerings or contributions has practically stopped; yet our daily expenses remain the same such as medical and liability insurances, utilities, and payroll. Last week, both the school and the church applied for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) with Bank of America. We are still waiting for the approval of the application and the funding.
Our teachers at CCS and our catechists continue to teach and evangelize the faith online using Zoom. I continue to meet weekly with the parish staff.
During Lent and Holy Week, I wrote and livestreamed the Fourteen Stations of the Cross daily for your prayers and reflections. I continue to celebrate daily masses and weekend masses praying for you and your intentions.
Starting next week, I will be having live streaming masses on Thursday and Friday at 6PM and Saturday and Sunday at 10AM. You can view them both on Facebook and YouTube at home.
The celebration of first communion will be delayed until July or August, and confirmation with Bishop Tom Curry will be in the Fall possibly September or October.
At the mean time, I encourage you to continue your donation to us. (1) Mail in, (2) Drop it off at the parish office, or (3) Give online using Zelle or other options listed on our website cathedralchapel.org.
May the Light of Christ accompany you and your loved ones with hope and calmness.
St. Vibiana and all the Saints, pray for us!
Fr. Truc Nguyen, Pastorfrtruc@cathedralchapel.org
