Dear Benefactors, Parishioners, and Guests:

As we approach our 97th Year and Annual Christmas Fundraising event, we come to you with great optimism and prayers for peace in our world from Pope Francis:  Lord, God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us, and you call us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister. Keep alive within us the flame of hope, so that with patience and perseverance we may opt for dialogue and reconciliation. In this way may peace triumph at last, and may the words "division", "hatred" and "war" be banished from the heart of every man and woman.

Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana has a rich history in Los Angeles. Since the opening of this church building in 1927, it has undergone four major renovations. The church has been and continues to be at the center of many people’s lives for 95 years! This year Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana will celebrate its 97th year of faith, education, and service to our community.

Our Annual Christmas Fundraiser this year will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Wilshire Country Club.  It is with my utmost gratitude that I am able to serve as your pastor in this historic church. I am honored to invite and share this annual event with you again. This year, we recognize in a special way two of our long-time parishioners, Cristy Wilkins and Rita Gardner. They have served our parish with their dynamic energy and servant hearts for many years.

The funds that we are able to raise from this event will be saved in the church’s reserve funds and will ensure we can continue to be a vital presence in our community for many years to come.

This is a wonderful parish, and I am amazed to learn from its history, at how our community has always worked together to meet needs that arise. I am asking you, and every member of this parish, to make a gift from the heart and do whatever you can to make this fundraiser a success.

We entrust our 97th celebrations to the intercessions of our Blessed Mother and our patron, St. Vibiana.
